Writing tip 21: Cut compound prepositions for reader-friendly writing

Compound prepositions are word groups containing prepositions at each end, for example 'in order to', 'in respect of'. Because they consist of more words than are necessary, they clutter your writing and rob it of vitality. Shorten compound prepositions into single words.

Examples
In order to allocate the resources we must...
Change this to: To allocate the resources we must...

We met for the purpose of analysing the situation...
Change this to: We met to analyse the situation...
