Writing tip 2: Keep lists to seven or fewer

Help your reader assimilate information quickly by keeping bulleted and numbered lists to no more than seven items. If necessary, use sub-bullets or second-level numbering.

Studies have shown that on average people can keep five to nine ideas in mind at one time, so seven is ideal.
