Writing tip 6: Use verbs to bring your writing alive

By changing nouns and noun phrases to verbs, you can often make your writing shorter and more reader-friendly.

Examples
make provision for  becomes  provide
give consideration to  becomes  consider
make an application to  becomes  apply

Hint: watch out for words ending in '-ion', '-ment', '-tion', '-ance', '-ence', '-ancy', '-ency', and '-ant'. If you've used these endings, check to see if you can make your sentence stronger and shorter by using a verb instead.
